Jayne Mansfield, Cilla Black and Billy Connolly are just three of the famous names who have enjoyed great hospitality in this early seventeenth-century stone mansion. Others, not on the A list, are also quick to applaud its virtues: 'We can't praise it enough,' enthused a couple of UK Restaurant Guide users, who added 'the food and staff are fantastic and it won't break the bank.'

The oak-panelled, candelit dining room is as handsome as they come, and it makes an intimate and 'romantic' setting for Gary Saunders' accomplished cooking.
