A towering glass monolith close to the Birmingham's revitalised canal development, the Hyatt Regency is also ideally placed for the International Convention Centre and Symphony Hall.
The aptly named Aria Restaurant, under a unique glass-roofed atrium in the main lobby, is ideal for pre-concert meals or leisurely dinners in a grand setting of Roman pillars, water features and 'naturalistic' flourishes.
Inspiration comes from far and wide, although most dishes are in the modern European style of, say, foie gras terrine with Puy lentil salad and liquorice dressing, coralli pasta with chicken, sun-dried tomato and pesto, and fillet of Cornish cod with buttered girolles, pea purée and parsley cream.
Salt-and-pepper tempura squid, five-spice lamb with sweet chilli jus, and steamed fish with soba noodles, ginger, garlic and soy add a taste of the Orient, while desserts could feature dark chocolate and orange torte or iced strawberry soufflé with balsamic strawberries.
Cocktails are the order of the day in Bar Pravada, while snacks, teas, and coffees are served throughout the day in the Atrium Lobby.
