The vast expanses of Dartmoor National Park surround this secluded country house hotel, which stands high on the rolling hills overlooking Haytor. There are fine views from the recently built restaurant, which promises modern food in rather smart surroundings.

The kitchen delivers a mixed bag of dishes ranging from standards like saddle of venison with wild mushroom and juniper to in-vogue ideas such as seared loin of tuna on a warm fennel and mooli salad with lemongrass and coriander dressing.
