Overlooking the ever-changing maritime scene in and around Portsmouth Harbour, the Indian Palace is part of the smart Gunwharf Quays development and occupies a site on the upper level of the boardwalk. The interior sports a contemporary minimalist look, with plants, blond wood furniture and prints of Indian dancers on the walls.
The cooking covers all the usual curry house bases, from tandooris and tikkas to kormas and jalfrezis, but there are also plenty of house specials including chicken suganda (stuffed with spicy potatoes, onions and almonds in mango sauce), sathkari gosht (lamb cooked in calamansi juice and wild lemon leaf and naga chilli) and somunder ki (stir-fried crab, shrimps and squid with green chillies, spring onions and pepper).
