Tucked in alongside the National Portrait Gallery, Jom Makan is one of the few restaurants in the West End to specialise in authentic Malaysian cuisine. Its virtues are many and varied: the place generates a convivial vibe with its clean-cut, canteen-style layout, functional furnishings, red lampshades and open kitchen, while the food is fresh, speedily delivered and great value.

The 50-dish menu covers all the staples of the cuisine, from satays to plates of mee goreng noodles with all sorts of goodies.
