L'Absinthe's seasoned owner Jean-Christophe Slowik (JC to his friends) is a famous face who, before this Primrose Hill venture, has worked out front in many of the capital's top French restaurants and was a sidekick of Marco Pierre White for nigh on 20 years. He has transformed these premises into a buzzy neighbourhood bistro with a wine shop attached.
Posters, candles and dark wood furniture add to the bistro mood, menus are written in French and English, specials are chalked up on a blackboard, and prices are a blessing in these crunch times.
