L'Anima Review

Francesco Mazzei has moved on from duties as the driving culinary force behind trendy St Alban to open his own swanky restaurant L'Anima in the borderlands between Shoreditch and the City. L'Anima (the name means 'soul') has been given the de-luxe design treatment - all slick minimalist Italian - with white leather chairs, green-toned marble and swathes of limestone adding expressive chic to the glass-box of a dining room.

Mazzei hails from Calabria focuses on the food of his native region, with forays into Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia; there are also Moorish influences in some of the bold, spicy and aromatic flavours on show.
