A country house hotel in the modern style, Lancaster House stands in lawned grounds just south of the city, almost opposite the university. An impressive reception lounge complete with a minstrel's gallery leads through to the split-level Foodworks Restaurant, which features a grand piano, lots of intimate alcoves and fine views out towards Morecambe Bay.

The kitchen puts great store by Lancastrian produce for seasonal menus that mix old favourites with new inventions.
