Inhabiting a world of its own, overlooking acres of gardens and medieval ponds stocked with carp, Langar Hall is a highly idiosyncratic Georgian mansion awash with crystal chandeliers, gilt mirrors, statues and marble pillars. Over the years, Imogen Skirving has run the place almost like a family home, and her devoted presence adds enormously to the unique atmosphere of the hotel.
'Natural, organic and wild' is no idle boast when it comes to the food on offer, and the whole enterprise is built around a network of local growers and suppliers who are in tune with the seasons.
