Tucked away on one of Bideford's narrow cobbled streets, a short walk from the quay, Radwells ticks all the necessary boxes as a enthusiastically run neighbourhood restaurant. Owner John Emms is keen on local produce (fish is from the Bideford boats, vegetables are grown by gardeners in the town), he updates his menus regularly and serves his customers' needs admirably (he will even arrange taxis from the door).
'Glorious,' was one UK Restaurant Guide reporter's verdict on the food - especially the crab, lobster and prawn bisque and the slow-cooked beef served with horseradish mash, bacon, mushroom and ale gravy.
