Le Café Anglais Review
Rowley Leigh made his name at Kensington Place, but has moved on to open this exciting brasserie Le Café Anglais on the second floor of Whiteley's Shopping Centre overlooking Queensway. This is a big, noisy operation, with massive leaded windows, theatrical red drapes, etched glass and leather banquettes. At its heart is an open kitchen with a fiery rôtisserie.
The name is a nod to the legendary restaurant in Paris (sadly closed and due for demolition) but it also points up the Anglo-French bias of the menu.
