Le Cercle Review

Keep your eyes peeled for the discreet entrance to Le Cercle, sandwiched between the luxury apartments of Phoenix House on Wilbraham Place. You are greeted at the door, then directed downstairs to a labyrinthine basement; a fine gauze curtain separates the Speakeasy-style bar from the dining room. The mood is ultra-cool, with a double-height ceiling, billowing creamy-white drapes, carefully placed spotlights and a brigade of enigmatic French waiters doing the rounds.

Le Cercle creates a very different impression to its elder sibling Club Gascon in the City, but it is up there among the best in the land: no surprise that it was named AA London Restaurant of the Year 2006.

What it offers is cutting-edge contemporary French cuisine - exquisite 'tapas-sized' grazing dishes with seductive flavours, harmony and structure.
