'Chardon' means thistle and images of the eponymous prickly plant appear on the tiled walls of this one-time grocer's shop turned authentic French bistro. Some of the old shelves, weighing scales and mirrors remain, although the Gallic theme is reinforced by Parisian street signs on the walls and oilcloths on the tables.
Seafood and regional specialities feature on the wide-ranging menu, which advertises moules marinière, grilled Dover sole, roast sea bass with fennel and extravagant 'plateaux de fruits de mer' - as well as Thai fishcakes with chilli sauce.
