Built of local slate, this fine Edwardian country house stands in over two acres of grounds at the heart of Borrowdale. Not surprisingly, the views are magnificent.
The kitchen works a short, fixed-price dinner menu that changes each night and runs to four courses. You might kick off with cream of broccoli soup or grilled goats' cheese with roast peppered pear, before moving on to an intermediate course such as baked Finnan haddock Mornay.
