Enticingly situated in the heart of Royal Deeside at the gateway to the Highlands, this hotel was originally built in the late 1800s for the nieces of Doctor Profeit (Queen Victoria's doctor), and became an upmarket retreat for wealthy fishermen, stalkers and travellers.
These days it remains a popular stop-off for tourists, who appreciate its lovely wooded location between Ballater and Aboyne, its pretty gardens and family hospitality.
