Bamburgh's imposing Norman castle towers in the background behind this Grade II-listed hotel. Informal meals (Seahouses kipper pâté, steak and ale pie, mushroom Stroganoff) are served in the beamed Forsters Bar, but the main business is dinner in the contemporary Olive Tree restaurant.
The menu might open with venison terrine and cranberry chilli dressing or garlic mushroom with garlic mayo dip, before oven-baked cod on roasted Mediterranean vegetables with lemon butter sauce, braised lamb shank on minted mash or roast duck breast with apricot compote.
