Goan home cooking in all its spiced-up glory is the tantalising prospect at the Ma Goa, a disarmingly friendly, family-run Putney restaurant. It's a buzzy, up-to-the-minute place, with bright contemporary abstract art on the walls, fresh flowers and black leather chairs. 'Ma' Kapoor cooks and presides over proceedings with help from a beguilingly affable team.
The must-have starter is Goa chorizo, made with palm sugar, Kashmiri chillies and garlic, likewise shrimps in a pungent 'balchao' pickling masala with steamed bread.
