An easy stroll from New Street station, the Burlington started life as a railway hotel way back in 1881, and it still bears all the signs of a grand, old-school city-centre hotel of the old school, complete with ornate marble staircases and period décor.

The Berlioz Restaurant doesn't let the side down with its glittering chandeliers, huge mirrors and intricately fashioned ceiling.
