There's something rather personal and engaging about Mohamed Faraji's popular Islington neighbourhood restaurant Maghreb. In a setting of mustard yellow walls and blue upholstery he offers genuine Moroccan cuisine mostly based around the family cooking of his home town, Larache.
Among the starters, look for harira (traditional Moroccan soup), grilled merguez sausages, za'aluk (mashed steamed aubergine with tomato, cumin, chilli, coriander and olive oil) and goats' cheese pastillas wrapped in filo pastry.
