'One-time prison becomes daring escape destination!' The latest branch of the Malmaison Hotel group is incarcerated in part of Oxford Castle jail and - according to the owners - 'once you've stayed here you'll want us to lock you up and throw away the key'. Be warned: there's no parking for your getaway car at the hotel.

The brasserie occupies the old solitary confinement cells, but you can expect something a lot better than prison grub on your plate.
