The Malt Shovel at Barston Review

Surrounded by fields and open countryside not far from Solihull and the M42, the Malt Shovel occupies the shell of an old mill – although the neat, cream-painted building now promotes itself as a 'country pub and restaurant with a difference'.

The original building houses an opened-out bar complete with bare floors, green paintwork and a blazing fire at one end of the long room, while the main restaurant occupies a converted barn; there's also a pretty garden for summertime al fresco meals.
