Built in 1780 as the principal residence on the Duke of Argyll's Oban estate and later used as a dower house, this sturdy stone-built manor is a model of robust Georgian architecture. These days, it functions as an elegant and well-preserved country hotel with fine views out to the harbour and Oban Bay (moorings are available for guests).
Evening meals are served in the beautifully restored dining room, where the daily five-course menu shows off home-grown and seasonal Scottish produce.
