Opened by one-time Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev in 1993, the family-run Marcliffe has established a gilt-edged international reputation and picked up a clutch of prestigious accolades over the years. It stands in 11 acres of attractive wooded grounds on the western outskirts of Aberdeen and is ideal for business or leisure.

Meals are served in the airy, split-level Conservatory Restaurant with its Lloyd Loom chairs and specially spun curtains.
