Once a stopover for travellers wending their way between Newcastle and York, the Tontine is a fine-looking early-Victorian stone inn that has been the McCoy brothers' pride and joy for more than 25 years. It's seen many changes along the way, but the 'slightly subterranean' bistro still does good business.
