Right in the heart of theatreland (with handy menus for show-goers), Mela is a long-serving stalwart of the Covent Garden Indian scene. Inside it is colourfully decked out with eye-catching textile wall hangings, colourful artefacts and a dramatic glass-fronted kitchen. It is all very cheery and animated.
The menu offers a fascinating tour of the Sub-continent, from the foothills of the Himalayas to the southern reaches of Kerala: the tandoor gets plenty of use and vegetarians get an impressively good deal.
