Situated on the ground floor of a cosy Victorian terraced house (once the home of the village school mistress), Morgan's is capably run by new owners David and Tara Pitman. It may look old-fashioned and domestic from the outside, but the interior has been given a thorough contemporary makeover and is now famed for its displays by local artists.
Locally sourced meat, seafood and cheeses dominate proceedings in the kitchen, and menus are fleshed out with lots of blackboard specials – everything from medallions of monkfish with crab risotto or fillet of halibut with braised Welsh Black oxtail and lemon oil to desserts such as Grand Marnier and sweet chestnut frozen mousse served with a chocolate-coated 'lolly'.
