The Mustard Seed Review

A mouthwatering location on the banks of the River Ness lures visitors to this highly popular Inverness restaurant. Housed in a former church dating from 1828, the Mustard Seed mixes rustic intimacy and foodie flourishes with lofty ceilings, arched windows and galleries - not to mention lovely alfresco seating by the water.

The kitchen works to a short menu that has some neat, unexpected touches: roasted apple is filled with tequila compote and served as a starter on thick custard cream, sea bass is baked with an oatmeal and Parmesan crust and dressed with chilli syrup, while roast breast of Gressingham duck comes with a homemade 'towel' dumpling, plum and cinnamon sauce.
