Ensconced within the auspicious Halkin Hotel, Nahm Thai restaurant is a cool, discreet venue that feels more west than east, despite the heady aromas wafting through the air and a menu that challenges most English perceptions of Thai food. The interior is perfectly serene, with its teak furniture, wooden screens and rich colours; service is sharp and knowledgeable.

Supremo David Thompson made headlines in Sydney with his restaurant Darley Street Thai before decamping to London.
