It was just a matter of time before the renowned Nawaab group of Indian restaurants found its way to Leeds. The latest outlet is right in the city centre and it looks very different to other branches in the chain. Here the emphasis is on light, contemporary design, with a minimalist bar and informal café-style layout (bare tables, red banquettes and so on).
The vast menu runs to some 200 dishes, covering a host of 'popular curries' (bhunas, dhansaks, jalfrezis), assorted tandooris, baltis and a big selection of chef's specialities - including chicken haandi cooked and served in a special wide-bellied pot, slow-cooked lamb nihari and a decent selection of vegetables.
