South East Asian food for the 'new urbanites in Ancoats and Manchester's Northern Quarter' is the aim of Ning, a stylish canteen/café/restaurant. Inside, the spacious Art Deco property has been given a facelift and a splash of oriental chic with bespoke black and pink colour schemes, Batik prints, oversized bright red ceiling lights and a huge rosewood table for communal meals.
The kitchen focuses on 'home-style' cooking from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and other parts of the Far East, pulling in trademark satays, gado-gado salad and chicken murtabak ahead of Nonya chicken and lime curry, wok-fried mussels in turmeric sauce, beef rendang and Singapore 'hailam' noodles.
