North West Castle Hotel, Regency Dining Room Review

Situated right by the shores of Loch Ryan, this imposing stone manor house was built in 1820 for famed Arctic explorer Sir John Ross (of North West Passage fame). Today it is a sought-after destination for Scottish tourists, travellers and fans of curling (it's the first hotel in the world with its own indoor rink).

On the food front, visitors set a course for the spacious, elegantly appointed restaurant, where they can look forward to dishes such as warm confit of blue fin tuna with potato salad and sauce vierge, tournedos of beef topped with a gratin of wild mushrooms, and roast breast of wood pigeon with a skirlie potato cake, juniper and redcurrant reduction.
