Oddfellows in the Boat Review

Ann Holden and her team have transformed this roadside pub between the A5 and the canal into a fine modern hostelry with the emphasis firmly on food. Inside all is immaculate, with light streaming in from a big skylight, bright plastic flooring and striking prints in the bar. Potted palms and café-style furniture add to the contemporary bistro mood, and there's a landscaped decking area outside.

Huge floor-to-ceiling blackboards advertise the food, which might include an eclectic choice of starters and light dishes ranging from crayfish terrine with lemon dressing to smoked duck salad with pine nuts and watercress or pigeon breast with bubble 'n' squeak.
