Mount Royale Hotel, La Sala del Monte Review

Mount Royale comprises two beautiful William IV houses, built in 1833 and situated discreetly not far from York city centre. The main restaurant has been re-branded as La Sala del Monte, but it still provides lovely views of the gardens and focuses on straightforward modern food with lots of Mediterranean flourishes.

A few old favourites such as Caesar salad with smoked chicken or wild boar sausages and mash are always on the menu; other dishes vary with the market and the season.
