Set directly opposite Dirleton's thirteenth-century castle, this family-run hotel really does live up to its name, and visitors can expect a genuine welcome with open arms – as well as cosy log fires in winter.
Deveau's Brasserie at the front of the hotel is bright, cheery and informal, a pleasant setting for an extensive menu of modern dishes along the lines of fishcakes with lemon beurre blanc, Ballancrieff organic pork cutlet with sherry, mushroom and cream sauce or char-grilled fillet of hake with fresh limes and sesame oil.
