A hundred years ago this gem of a pub was renowned for its potent home-brewed beer, although records suggest that it was dispensing alcoholic refreshments as early as 1795. The name 'Peacock Inn' is emblazoned in white tiles on the roof, and inside it's a wealth of ancient ship's beams, open fireplaces and exposed brick walls.

These days, the Peacock's reputation hinges on its food, and there are plenty of options depending on your preferences.
