One of the first gastropubs in London to make a name for itself, this red-brick Victorian hostelry stands on a corner site. Inside it has been handsomely restored with a mahogany horseshoe bar and inlaid mosaic floor plus a stunning conservatory.
If you fancy staying in the downstairs bar, you can quaff a pint of real ale and choose from a menu of tapas-style nibbles including stuffed vine leaves, asparagus with piquillo peppers and Spanish meatballs, as well as more substantial dishes such as roast cod with wok-fried black beans and chilli sauce.
