Rebuilt in 1814 on the site of a seventeenth-century country mansion, The Penrallt has also done service as a radical boy's school before eventually becoming a country-house hotel. Standing in 42 acres of lovely grounds overlooking the tranquil expanses of Aberporth Bay, it's a perfect escape and comes complete with expensive amenities including a swimming pool.
Formal meals are served in the elegant surroundings of the wood-panelled Bay Restaurant with its splendid, ornately beamed ceiling and plum-coloured walls.
