'A small country house with a huge commitment to fine food' is how the owners describe this centuries-old stone hall with Coed y Branin Forest Park on the doorstep and Snowdonia as a backdrop.

The kitchen garden is up-and-running, producing a fine range of greenstuff for the kitchen. Organic and locally sourced ingredients are one of the owners' passions and you can taste the results in the Shelley Restaurant – a grand room made more luxurious with stained glass, antiques and rich textiles.

Dinner might begin with a trio of pâtés on a balsamic glaze or air-dried Carmarthen ham with melon, before calf's liver with pancetta and Marsala sauce or salmon fillet on Puy lentils with watercress sauce.
