Mrs Kaushy Patel and her family started out by selling vegetarian snacks and sweetmeats in this modest corner site, before expanding into sit-down meals. Billed as a 'chaat house', Prashad specialises in Gujarati street food and everyday dishes from the traditions of home cookery.

There's not much in the way of décor or fittings – just plastic chairs, metal tables and a mirrored wall along one side – but the food has an up-front authentic zing.
