Named after Rome's presidential palace (and one of the ancient 'seven hills'), Quirinale stands almost in the shadow of the Houses of Parliament and naturally attracts politicians of all parties, as well as its share of Westminster tourists. The restaurant occupies a bright, contemporary basement with capacious cream leather banquettes, limed floorboards and pastel colour schemes.
The top-end Italian menu has strong regional overtones with homemade pasta as a real vote winner: try the lasagne of salt cod and artichokes with potato purée or tortelli filled with radicchio and chestnuts with quail ragù.
