Just a mile or so from the trendy pleasures of Southwold, this rather grand-looking former pub was an outpost of the local Adnams empire, but is now run as an independent enterprise. The place is still frequented by drinkers, who congregate in the open-plan bar for pints of local real ale and light nibbles amid comfy leather chairs, sofas and stripped wood floors.
