Hugh and Leonora Rankin's classic Kentish weatherboarded restaurant stands right in the centre of Sissinghurst – a village synonymous with its world-famous Gardens. The building was originally two cottages, then – after a spell as a saddlers – it was transformed into an agreeable, oak-beamed restaurant.
The short, eclectic menu develops with the seasons and the kitchen is quick to snap up the best of the catch from the Rye boats: sea bass, scallops, John Dory, monkfish and the like are subjected to modern treatment.
