Kamran and Azita Soroush have done a grand job since taking over this traditional stone-built country pub in a tiny village deep in the Vale of Glamorgan countryside. Inside, it still looks authentically pubby with lots of wooden beams, original stonework and burgundy colour schemes – although the main emphasis is on food rather than ale-quaffing.
No-frills modern cooking is the kitchen's business, and the menu promises a big choice of commendable dishes along the lines of king prawns wrapped in bacon with mustard dressing, roast sea bass with mango and avocado, and braised lamb shank with mash.
