There's a touch of Art Deco about Rescobie House Hotel, a listed 1930s residence set in charming gardens on the fringes of Leslie village. Long-serving owners, the Wilkie family, keep everything ship-shape and the hotel makes an ideal base for exploring the historic kingdom of Fife.

Dinner is a regularly changing, fixed-price affair that might open with twice-baked Mull Cheddar soufflé with sun-dried tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette or ham 'hough' and foie gras terrine with pease pudding.
