Following a stunning transformation, Edinburgh's landmark Rutland Hotel re-opened in 2008 and has quickly scooped a handful of prestigious awards - including 'Best New Scottish Hotel' in the Scottish Hotel Awards. Once the home of pioneering Victorian surgeon Sir Joseph Lister, it stands in a prime spot and now operates a chic boutique hotel.

The Restaurant at the Rutland ('Most Exciting New Restaurant 2009') has superb views over the city skyline and oozes opulence with its contemporary black and stone furniture, mirrored pillars and rich red colours.
