Rhubarb Review

A vibrant newcomer to fashionable West Didsbury, Rhubarb is run as a double act with Mark Ramsden manning the stoves and wife Lisa overseeing front-of-house.

He plunders the globe for culinary inspiration, looking to North Africa for braised lamb shank with Moroccan spiced aubergine and couscous and dipping into the Far East for lobster and king prawn samosa with Goan curried yoghurt sauce or honey and soy roast duck breast with ginger green beans.

Other ideas are closer to home: roast salmon fillet comes with crushed watercress potatoes and saffron butter sauce, and there's always a traditional roast on the Sunday lunch menu.

As a finale, expect crème brûlée (flavoured with rhubarb, of course!) and Amaretto iced parfait with Griottine cherry compote.
