Formerly the Calls Grill, River Plate makes the most of its striking waterside location overlooking the River Aire and opposite Tetleys Brewery. Those who know their history and geography will recall that the River Plate (Rio de la Plata) was the historic gateway to what is now Argentina, and this casual venue now does duty as an authentic Argentinian steak house complete with a great alfresco terrace.
Char-grilled steaks from beasts reared on the lush pampas naturally steal the show - all that's needed is a pile of chips and some chimichurri sauce (a herb-laden concoction billed as 'meat's best friend').
