Originally a wayside inn deep in the Chilterns, not far from Princes Risborough, the Rose & Crown at Saunderton has been transformed into a stylish bar and hotel with impressive dining facilities. It also boasts a splendid child-friendly garden planted with fruit trees and mature shrubs.
The restaurant's fine dining menu is a modern affair that might open with spiced seafood risotto with crispy red chard and shellfish oil, before poached chicken breast with boudin noir, baby leeks and chive beurre blanc or pavé of salmon with shallot, mussel and coriander broth.
