Tony Singh (owner of Oloroso and once head chef on the Royal Yacht Britannia), recently moved Roti from its original home in Rose Street North Lane to grander city-centre premises just off Lothian Road.
Roti 'is not an Indian restaurant, but it does serves Indian food': so runs the blurb. Indeed, one glance at the menu will prove that this is not your average curry house: forget chicken tikka masala, here is a kitchen that deals in katori bater (pot-roast quail with mooli) and tawewali macchi (seared halibut with South Indian vegetable stew and beetroot wafers).
'The best Indian food I've tasted in the UK,' enthused Gillian Glover in The Scotsman, and it's easy to see why.
