The Royal Oak Review

Scooping The Good Pub Guide 'County Dining Pub of the Year' 2011 award, The Royal Oak near Marlow is out of the same Home Counties' stable as The Alford Arms, Frithsden, The Swan Inn, Denham, The Black Horse at Fulmer and The Old Queens Head, Penn; this whitewashed village hostelry now follows the same flexible gastro pub path as its relatives.

Inside, it has all the familiar Country Living trappings – a snug with a wood-burning stove, dark polished floorboards, rich fabrics – and there's a sprawling garden outside complete with a pétanque 'piste' and a sunny terrace.

The menu divides up into 'small plates' and 'main meals'.
